English Language and Literature Major
Welcome to the English Major
The study of language and literature keeps us in dialogue with the great minds and ideas of the past and the present, reminding us that words matter and that literature continues to shape the world.
At many levels, the English major prepares students for meaningful engagement with society, most basically through building skills in reading, writing, and criticism, thus preparing students for a variety of professional fields or graduate study.
Worldwide, the workplaces of the 21st century need graduates who can speak and write effectively, especially in English, and who can rise to leadership positions. Come study with us.
