Experiential Learning

Internships

Each year nearly 25% of the student body is given the opportunity to pursue an internship through Bryn Athyn College.  First-year students who earn a GPA of 2.70  may pursue an internship spring term.

Service Learning

The current Core skills requirement of 1 credit of service learning represents a first step toward a more comprehensive program to be launched in 2008. Students satisfy the Core requirement of 1 credit of service learning in a variety of ways (listed below). For whatever experience is chosen, the student puts to use or enhances skills or perspectives in the Core Program. If the connection to the Core Program is not manifest in the experience itself, the student reflects upon and articulates the value of the experience through either written form or in a  presentation to the college community.

Ways to satisfy the Service Learning requirement:

  • College newspaper editor
  •  Choir
  •  Coaching
  •  Courses with service learning facets
  •  Individually-tailored experiences
  •  Internships
  •  Practicums in the majors
  •  Regular service in local communities
  •  Service trips (Short trips provide partial credit.)
