Masterpieces of Medieval France
Every few years Bryn Athyn College teams up with Glencairn Museum to present a two-week trip to study the culture, history, and art of a chosen country. In the past few years trips have gone to Italy, Greece, and Great Britain. In June 2008 students and faculty from Bryn Athyn College will join many others on a trip entitled, "Masterpieces of Medieval France: Placing Glencairn's Medieval Collection into Context." This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of medieval cathedrals and monasteries, explore the French countryside touring such famous sites as Autun, Cluny, and Vezelay, and conclude your travels with five days in Paris.

Attendees are encouraged to enroll in FA/History 160/260 in Spring 2008, which will be a class devoted to the study of the locations, artifacts, and monuments which will be seen on the trip. Full-time Bryn Athyn College students who enroll in the class and go on the trip will study a particular piece of art or history throughout the term and be given the opportunity to give a presentation on location in France during the trip. This unique experience enriches the study of medieval art for both the presenter--whose presentation is immeasurable enhanced by the presence of the subject--and the listeners--who get to learn about many artifacts from students who have studied them in-depth.

The trip to France will cost approximately $4343. We have scholarship aid available for full-time Bryn Athyn College students who take FA/History 160/260 for credit in Spring 2008. Additional participants are welcome to join the trip through February 1, 2008.
