Mentoring Program Question and Answer with Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter
On Monday, March 31st, Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter will be at the Mitchell Performing Arts Center on the Bryn Athyn College campus from 11 am to 12 noon to discuss mentoring and faith based initiatives and problems facing our nation.  
CARE Christmas Party for HELP Philadelphia Kids.
On Sunday, December 16, Bryn Athyn College's community service organization, CARE, will host a Christmas party for a group of kids from HELP Philadelphia. Under the national umbrella organization HELP USA, HELP Philadelphia is a non-profit agency in West Philadelphia that promotes self-sufficiency among low-income and homeless families. Ten Thousand Villages Sale at Glencairn Museum.
On December 2, 2007 Glencairn Museum will host its third annual Ten Thousand Villages Sale during the December Open Sunday family event, Glad Tidings: A Celebration of Christmas. Stained glass windows by renowned artist Lawrence Saint and a large 3-part nativity scene that has been a part of Christmas at Glencairn for over 60 years will also be on display. Guided tours of Christmas art from medieval times.... 
Bach's Magnificat Vespers Service.
Bach's Magnificat Vespers Service Sunday, December 2nd 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM Bryn Athyn Cathedral Prelude music for this "Four Star" event begins at 7:30 PM with organ music and a special performance of Respighi's "The Adoration of the Magi" by the Bryn Athyn Cathedral Chamber Ensemble.  For more information visit www.brynathyncathedral.org
Service Day Begins the Year at Bryn Athyn College.
As part of the beginning of the academic year, Bryn Athyn College continued its tradition of sponsoring a service day for students and faculty. On August 28th crews undertook projects at Briar Bush Nature Center, Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust, and Mitchell Performing Arts Center. Members of service teams painted at Help Philadelphia, St. John's Episcopal Church, and Hatboro YMCA, renovated the playground and cleaned inside flooring at Ivyland New Church, helped remodel a house on Central Avenue in Hatboro, and took children from Help Philadelphia to the Please Touch Museum. The day's efforts highlight Bryn Athyn College's commitment to serving others.    
Biology Major Senior Presents a Poster at the Sigma XI Event at Thomas Jefferson University.
On Thursday, April 12th, Dan Hultgren presented a poster at the Sigma XI event at Thomas Jefferson University. Dan is a senior in the Bryn Athyn College biology major and the poster he presented is based on his senior research project. This project is supervised by Dr. Raj Dave at the Division of Infectious Diseases, Center for Human Virology, at Thomas Jefferson University. The title for Dan’s poster was “Identification of Potential Viral-encoded miRNA from CNS-derived Isolates of HIV-1.”  
Student Receives Williamsburg Scholarship.
Kendra Knight ’08 was awarded a scholarship to pursue a one-week internship with Colonial Williamsburg.  The scholarship, which is unique to Bryn Athyn College, will enable Kendra to participate along with experienced educators from across the country in Williamsburg’s Teacher Institute in Early American History this summer.  Kendra is pursuing a history major at Bryn Athyn College with secondary school certification.  
Medieval Faire Students Garner Rave Reviews.
Student presenters wowed the crowd at Glencairn Museum’s annual Medieval Faire.  Thirteen Bryn Athyn College students, steeped in Medieval life and lore, donned costumes and spoke on researched topics to a 600+ attendance. Topics included life as a woman in Medieval times; wool spinning; weapons and armor; illuminated manuscripts; and the role of Mary in Medieval religious art. 
Bryn Athyn College Theater's Production of Wit by Margaret Edson.
Months of arduous rehearsals culminated in fine performances. Margaret Edson’s challenging script “stretched our students,” writes producer Nina Phillips. The intellectual environment of the College allows students the freedom to explore difficult moral dilemmas raised in the context of medical ethics. Do we make choices with our hearts or our minds? Does one person’s perception of “truth” overshadow that of another? What is the process by which we learn how to choose which path to take? 
Winter Sports Update
In recent sports news, the badminton team is gearing up for its season. First match’s tough opponent Drexel sharpened our team’s playing. Second match was won 4-1, even with two team members missing.  On the soccer front, the men battled heroically in the final, narrowly missing victory 3-2 and bringing home the Sportsplex League 2nd place trophy!  
White Hot Club Night, this year's biggest campus extravaganza, treated students like royalty as they shook off winter blues and danced the night away...
Last weekend’s fancy party for college students and friends, hosted at local mansion Cairnwood, was a great success. Students arrived in limos, entering through a mist of bubbles down a candlelit hallway to a dance floor decorated all in white. 
Men's Indoor Soccer Team Advances After Tough Win in Semifinal.
Close, high-drama game Jan. 18th goes to overtime in a 1:1 tie, team surviving 2-minute power play with crucial defensive saves.  
Indoor Soccer Team Has What It Takes.
Bryn Athyn College’s indoor soccer team competes in the Sportsplex Winter Indoor Soccer League.  The team started the season well with a 3 to 1 win  over AC Milan on December 5th. 
Charter Day Weekend.
Charter Day Weekend At Bryn Athyn College, Charter Day is the most anticipated event of the fall. Families and friends pour into town from around the world to partake in the festivities and celebrate the granting of the institution's charter in 1877. Alumni, in between making respectable showings in both the Alumni Volleyball Match and the Alumni Soccer Game, enjoyed tours of campus renovations--both the completed projects and those still underway.  
Groundbreaking to Begin on New Student Housing.
This summer, the College will break ground on a new student residence project.  Designed by Spillman Farmer Architects, the new cottage-style buildings will be located adjacent to Childs Hall and Grant Hall, the existing men's and women's residence halls.  The cottages will provide an attractive living space with greater amenities for third and fourth year students.   
College Partners with Charity In Action.
Bryn Athyn College has entered into an agreement with Charity In Action, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing humanitarian and emergency services to people whose homes and businesses were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. 
Board of Trustees Reviews College Housing Plans.
Bethlehem PA- based Spillman Farmer Architects presented design plans for a proposed college housing project at Bryn Athyn College's Board of Trustees meeting in September. 
Professor Baker's Recent Book, The Pendulum: A Case Study in Physics, Goes to a Second Printing - March 2006.
As part of it's first release of The Pendulum: A Case Study in Physics by Dr. Gregory Baker and Dr. James Blackburn in July 2005, The Oxford University Press offered the following observation: "The Pendulum describes one physical system – the pendulum – and it's manifestations in classical and modern physics. While being a technical work, this remarkable study is set within the context of the technological, historical and cultural developments to which the pendulum has contributed." 
Associate Professor Cooper pursues estuarine paleoecological research in Maine.
Dr. Sherri L. Cooper, Associate Professor of Biology at Bryn Athyn College, is pursuing a sabbatical at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine during the 2006/07 academic year. 
Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust and the College.
A new agreement between the Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust (PERT) and Bryn Athyn College provides exciting opportunities for undergraduate research in environmental science that will assist the College in establishing a unique, hands-on program in biology.
