Online Viewbook: a multimedia introduction to Bryn Athyn College

<< Back

The first phase of the several-year plan to refurbish and expand Bryn Athyn College facilities began over the summer and is now fully underway. Students arriving on campus for orientation and registration will find many old footpaths replaced and a slew of new landscaping already completed. Pendleton Hall Commons is also being completely refinished with new siding and flooring, new furnishings, and a multi-media screen. Other areas of campus will still be under construction through the beginning of the school year- several trees are due to be planted soon, new lighted outdoor volleyball and basketball courts will be completed near the residence halls this fall, and Pendleton Hall Chapel is receiving new carpet, new siding, new seats, and a new sound-system.

Longer-term projects also began this summer. A new café will be opening in the Swedenborg Library by Charter Day (Friday, October 12th) and on the main floor a new computer reference area will sport brand new computers and more space for studying. By late October the Admissions Office will have moved into the Swedenborg Library to make way for a mini-bookstore in Pendleton Hall where students will be able to purchase textbooks and Bryn Athyn College clothing. On the far side of College Drive ground has been broken for the new cottage-style residence buildings, the first phase of which will be ready for student occupation by Fall 2008.

Both the men's and women's residence halls have also been renovated over the summer. Bathrooms in Childs Hall have been improved. Grant Hall's kitchen and second floor lounge have been completely repainted, updated, and refurnished and the downstairs lounges are expecting new furniture and carpeting soon. Rooms on the south wing have been repainted are receiving new carpet. The Dining Hall is also under construction; it is scheduled for completion by March 2008.

These renovations are just the beginning, and within the year construction will begin on an Admissions Pavilion and the greatly anticipated new Science Building, both of which will be located near Pendleton Hall Circle.
