The Facilities Department seeks various student workers

Position: Cleaner/mover/Painter

The majority of the work involves cleaning responsibilities including but not limited to: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, wiping surfaces, trash removal, refilling paper supplies, cleaning showers, sinks, toilets etc. From time to time other responsibilities may include function set up, moving furniture, books and other items as needed by Facilities. You may be selected to work on a painting crew. Painting includes; site preparation, moving rugs and furniture, sanding, scraping, taping, spackling, painting and final clean up. Other duties may be selected by the Facilities Department or the Director of Campus services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be currently enrolled as a student of Bryn Athyn College and in good academic standing. Applicants should be friendly, reliable and punctual, comfortable dealing with employees at all levels, students and visitors.  Student must be very dependable, have the ability to follow instructions and display a sense of professionalism at all times while on duty.

POSITION: ANC Dining Hall Floor Care Position
WHERE: ANC Secondary School Dining Hall
WHEN: Friday, Saturday, Sunday afternoons or following dinner
HOURS: 6 hrs/week
PAY: $8.50 per hour

For students new to Student Employment Program. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Sweeping
  • Mopping
  • Vacuuming.

Must be reliable, able to accomplish tasks independently, and be in good academic standing.  Will train, no experience necessary.

The Consolidated Plant Operations (CPO) seeks various student workers to work on an as needed basis as an On-Call employee. Participants on this crew may be called upon to help with a number of situations that arise during the school year. Workers should be able to comfortably lift 50 pounds and work in cold, windy, wet and slippery/icy conditions. Working hours may include weekends, late nights or early morning as is often the case during a snowstorm. If selected, you may be contacted by any number of supervisors and asked if you are available. To join this crew, it is understood you may have other campus employment.

Duties include:

  • Moving furniture or other items,
  • Cleaning
  • Setting up for functions
  • Leaf removal
  • Snow removal.
  • Other duties as required by the Director of Campus Services

FACULTY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Bryn Athyn College invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track position in business at the rank of assistant professor or instructor to begin July 1, 2015.

Bryn Athyn College is a small, private, coeducational, liberal arts college dedicated to a New Church approach to education and life.  It serves as an intellectual center for all who desire to pursue an education enriched by the Old and New Testaments and the theological writings of Emanuel Swedenborg.  Our campus is located in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, 14 miles north of center-city Philadelphia.  The College uses a three-term calendar (fall, winter, and spring units).  We seek applicants who are committed to the College’s mission and values, and who are interested in contributing to a curriculum shaped by New Church concepts.

The College is launching a business major built on liberal arts skills, such as writing and critical thinking, and infused with New Church ethics and values.  We seek a candidate who will continue to develop and implement the program.  A successful candidate will be:

  • committed to undergraduate teaching and able to contribute to the study of business as a mentor and advisor for business majors, as well as teach undergraduate courses in a subset of business areas.
  • eager to develop the vision and program in support of the strategic plan.
  • able to generate interest in the program, including financial support, from multiple constituencies.

Connections to potential student internship placements and interest in contributing to co-curricular activities for students are assets.

Candidates must have at least a Master’s degree in a business or related field; a PhD is preferred.  Candidates with a PhD would be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor.

STAFF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Bryn Athyn College is seeking a Database Manager (DM) to begin July 1, 2015. The DM is a full-time, exempt, benefit-eligible position reporting directly to the Director of Admissions. The DM’s role is to ensure the integrity of admissions data, maintain a clean and up-to-date database, ensure that all staff are trained in using the database, manage all automated communications of the admissions operation (emails, VIP, and lists for print), and support the admissions staff as a secondary traveling counselor.

As a member of Admissions team, the Database Manager’s responsibilities include

  • Managing all aspects of the Hobsons CRM
  • Coordinating and ensuring delivery of electronic communication to prospective students utilizing the Hobsons CRM data system
  • Creating, maintaining, and running all reports as requested
  • Running general weekly data reports for interoffice use to monitor enrollment goal progress
  • Collaborating with various offices on campus, including Marketing & Communications, Athletics, University Life, etc. to serve the needs of prospective students
  • Developing innovative approaches to operational and data management needs that involve external partners
  • Establishing and maintaining CRM usage procedures for staff
  • Participating in recruitment activities as requested – minimal travel
  • Other related duties as assigned

The candidate must possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in database management and dashboard reporting systems, specifically CRM platforms is required
  • Experience in higher education environment with particular exposure to Admissions operations is highly preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Hobson’s CRM is preferred
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills

Bryn Athyn College is seeking a Reference and User Services Librarian (RUSL) to begin July 1, 2015. The RUSL is a full-time, professional faculty position reporting directly to the Library Director. The Reference and User Services Librarian is responsible for providing reference services including information literacy and oversees the circulation of all library material. This is an exempt, benefit eligible position.

The Reference and User Services Librarian (RUSL) responsibilities include:

  • Provides reference service and teaches information literacy classes
  • Trains and supervises the Circulation Manager
  • Performs original and copy-cataloging of library material (Reports to the Technical Services Librarian with original and copy cataloging with emphasis on New Church materials)
  • Assists with inventory of library materials
  • Does administrative work on SirsiDynix WorkFlows
    • Deletes patrons and students as needed
    • Updates user privilege monthly
  • Prepares the staff and student work schedule in consultation with the library administration
  • Works with Administrative Assistant to collect fines and overdue or missing material
  • Submits statistical reports monthly
  • Keeps abreast in field by reading, Webinars and occasionally attending professional workshops and meetings
  • Performs related duties as requested by Library Director

The candidate must possess the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an institution accredited by the American Library Association

The Director of Marketing and Communications (DMC) is responsible for managing and implementing the overall public relations, communications and marketing efforts for Bryn Athyn College, consistent with the strategic goals, vision, and mission of the institution. The DMC is the chief strategist, writer, and editor for the College’s marketing, public relations, print, and social media branding pertaining to all College and Alumni Relations efforts. The DMC will work in collaboration with senior administration and communicate with a broad range of programs and information to meet the goals of marketing and alumni relations at the College.

Specific Responsibilities & Essential Functions

Principal responsibilities will include conception to implementation of all print and electronic media that will include a range of projects targeted for internal and external audiences with regard to marketing and alumni relations. The DMC will collaborate with the marketing team/Creative Manager in the development of graphic design, web design, photography, and other creative productions.

  • Contributes to and participates as a member of the President’s administration team
  • Supervises and leads the marketing and communications team functions
  • Write copy and edit content for grammar, style, and consistency to ensure messages are communicated clearly across all mediums
  • Directs the development of marketing and communications plans
  • Develops effective strategies in support of recruitment, development, and alumni relations
  • Creates hardcopy and electronic marketing and communications collateral/materials in collaboration with the Creative Manager
  • Develops, recommends, implements and manages the College’s brand image
  • Provides key messaging and positioning through creative multi-channel communications, including website and social media presence
  • Collaborates with the Creative Manager in securing freelance writers, photographers, graphic designers, and technical consultants as appropriate
  • Delivers the unique needs of the College’s target audiences, prospective students, alumni, and potential donors
  • Increase BAC’s visibility, both locally and nationally through a news media communications program
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Criteria & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree marketing, communications or related field is required. Master’s preferred
  • 5-7 years of direct, successful communications, public relations, and marketing strategy experience. Previous supervisory experience is required
  • Demonstrated successful writing and copy editing experience is required
  • Demonstrated experience making presentations  and negotiating with media outlets
  • Comprehensive experience in branding, project management, publications, advertising, public relations,  and social media strategies
  • Must be knowledgeable about web and graphic design elements
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communications skills required
  • Experience in higher education environment highly preferred. Non-profit sector experience with solid understanding of college culture and community acceptable
  • Awareness of the Swedenborgian New Church community a plus

Technical Skills Required:

Must possess expert level proficiency in Macintosh environment with current versions of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Familiar with other design, web and multimedia software. Must have comprehensive knowledge of social media platforms. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
