Bryn Athyn Professor Eugene Potapov's latest book, The Scramble for the Arctic: Ownership, Exploitation and Conflict in the Far North is now on the shelves.
The Scramble for the Arctic examines the political and ecological history of the Arctic and its exploration.
The book addresses the region's ownership and legal status of the Arctic and examines the powerplays between Russia (who, in August 2007 planted a glad beneath the ice of the North Pole) and other world players. Incorporating issues with the changing climate and changing politics, the book is a clear and concise analysis of the ecolological and political competitions in the Arctic.
Professor Potapov teaches biology and ornithology at Bryn Athyn College and leads our premier research program tracking deer in the Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust.
Professor Potapov is also the co-author of The Gyrfalcon, which he wrote with Richard Sale, who also co-authored The Scramble for the Arctic.
