From Director Suzanne Bernhardt:

"Huckleberry Finn is considered by most scholars to be among the top five greatest novels in all of American literature. In simple terms, the novel tells the story of one boy and one man struggling to go from slavery to freedom – together, on a small raft, on America’s biggest river.

"For the man, the struggle is physical: Jim is fleeing the horrors of slavery. For the boy, the struggle is spiritual: although Huck wrestles his way through bizarre events and characters along the river, his journey ultimately illuminates his internal struggle. Ironically, Huck can only become free by freeing himself from his mind’s conscience and by choosing his heart’s conscience. And this is only one reason why Huckleberry Finn is a great novel.

"Come see the other reasons. The story is potent. The music is beautiful. We plan to do our best to make you laugh and cry."
