A Cappella Concert Benefits Relief Efforts in Haiti

On Wednesday, April 28, Bryn Athyn's women's a cappella group - the Never B Flats - held a benefit concert to raise funds for the relief efforts in Haiti.

Alex, a member of the Never B Flats and a native of Haiti, delivered the following introduction:

"While [news of the January 10 earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti] was just a devastating story that was on the news for many, it hit home for me...literally. Being the only Haitian student here at Bryn Athyn College I felt alone and afraid that there would be no who could even begin to understand what I was feeling.

"To my surprise, I began to get emails, Facebook messages and even notes sliding under my door from people I didn’t really know. People were offering me a shoulder to cry on, people offering hugs, prayers and listening ears. It was around that time that I decided that this place was more than where I go to school; it’s home and these people are family."

The concert, which was held in the Pendleton Hall Commons, also included acts from several other Bryn Athyn students. The show delighted a full crowd of listeners from the College and the surrounding community, and raised over $600.
