It was announced Friday, April 1, that the Board of Trustees has affirmed the nomination of Dr. Kristin King as the President of Bryn Athyn College, effective immediately, and that she has accepted the position.
Since her appointment as interim president last July, Dr. King has earned the confidence of students, faculty, trustees, colleagues, alumni, and friends through her indefatigable commitment to the mission of the College and her aptitude and integrity in a year of economic and organizational challenges.
Following her graduation from the ANC Girls School in 1976, Dr. King earned a degree in Nursing from Gwynedd Mercy College and a Bachelor of Arts from the College of William and Mary. As an undergraduate she earned a Draper scholarship for graduate study at Christ’s College in Cambridge, England. She later earned a Master’s and a PhD in English Literature from Boston University.
Dr. King taught at Boston University before joining the faculty of Bryn Athyn College in 1995. In her sixteen years here, she has served in a number of administrative roles including Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Director of the English Major and Writing Program, Chair of the Curriculum and Academic Policy Committee, and Head of the Humanities Division. She also served in residence life as director of the Cottages.
Dr. King’s appointment was universally supported by College faculty leadership and she has widely been heralded as the best possible choice to lead Bryn Athyn College. Please join us in welcoming Dr. King to this role.
