English Interdisciplinary Program
The Interdisciplinary Program in English allows students to study the English language and another field of study into a single cohesive program.
A total of 130 credits is required for the BA degree. The senior research essay or project serves as a capstone. Students will work with the English program advisor to design their program.
Prerequisites:
- A grade of 2.7 or better in Writing 101: Expository Writing or Writing 202: Writing About Literature
- A writing (W) skill score of 2 in any course
- Speech 105: Public Speaking (may be taken co-requisite to 200-level requirements)
Required Courses:
200-level courses:
- English 218: American Literature I
- English 219: American Literature II
- English 221: British Literature II
300-level courses:
- One of the following:
- English 310: Chaucer and Medieval English Literature
- English 320: The English Language
- English 330: Elizabethan Literature
- One of the following:
- English 367: The Modern Novel
- English 370: Twentieth Century Authors (after 1950)
Recommended Courses in Supporting Fields:
- History course covering the same era as literature survey courses (English 218, 219, and 221)
- Art history course covering the same time periods as literary study
