History Interdisciplinary Program

The History Interdisciplinary Program allows students to take advantage of our rich history offerings while also applying their theories in another discipline.

A total of 130 credits is required for the BA degree. The senior research essay or project serves as a capstone. Students will work with the history program advisor to design their program.

Prerequisites:

One of the following:

  • History 114: The Classical World
  • History 115: The Medieval World
  • History 117: The Contemporary World

History Requirements:

Three courses in one of the following areas of emphasis, including one course at the 300-level:

Ancient History:

  • History 207: Ancient Mesopotamia
  • History 208: Art and Culture of Ancient Egypt
  • History 240: Ancient Israel
  • History 310: Religion in Ancient Greece and Rome

Eighteenth Century Europe and Its Origins:

  • History 215: Renaissance and Reformation
  • History 216: The Making of Modern Europe, 1763–1918
  • History 250/350: Swedenborg's Life and Times
  • History 290: Social Movements
  • History 315: Seminar in the Age of Enlightenment

American History:

  • History 225: Colonial America, 1607–1763
  • History 230: United States History, 1763–1877
  • History 232: American Foreign Policy
  • History 330: Twentieth Century American History Seminar

Non-Western History:

  • History 209: Asia
  • History 235: Africa: An Introduction to African History
  • History 245: The Middle East
  • History 295: Islam
  • History 346: Issues in the Contemporary Middle East
