Charter Day Reunions

Charter Day is our homecoming weekend, held in October each year to celebrate the signing of the Charter for the Academy of the New Church in 1877.

Every year, traditional festivities include reunion events, a Saturday morning alumni vs. students soccer game, our Charter Day Banquet, Red Hot Club Night, and a golf outing fund-raiser for our student aid fund. The weekend begins with a visually-striking procession in which our students march from Pendleton Hall to a worship service in Bryn Athyn Cathedral, carrying flags representing the home-nations of our diverse student body.

Charter Day 2012

Charter Day 2012 will be held on October 12. Festivities will take place beginning on Thursday, October 11, and will continue through our annual Student Scholarship Golf Outing on Monday, October 15, 2012.

Charter Day 2011

The first weekend in October, hundreds of alumni poured into town for our annual celebration of the 1877 signing of the Charter for the Academy of the New Church, Bryn Athyn College's parent organization.

Thanks to all our volunteers, alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends, the weekend went off smoothly again this year. Our alumni and friends demonstrated tremendous support for our schools, both by reaffirming their pride in our schools and through generous financial contributions.

This year's highlights included:

  • Gourmet omelets served at Glencairn Museum's Castle Café, made with Bryn Athyn College Garden vegetables.
  • An evening of song and entertainment at our Blast from the Past III at Mitchell Center.
  • An alumni win (2–0) in the annual students vs. alumni soccer game.
  • A fantastic Charter Day Banquet speech, entitled New Church Education on the Edge delivered by Chaplain Rev. Dr. Thane Glenn.
  • Wonderful alumni support at the Academy Expo, raising over $40,000.
