Our coed club badminton team practices throughout the academic year, and competes against local colleges each winter. Every year we host the Mid-Atlantic Badminton Tournament (the largest tournament on the East Coast) at our superb 14-court facility, the Asplundh Field House.
Adrian Smith has served as Head Coach of the Bryn Athyn College badminton team for more than ten years and has successfully guided his mostly novice players to winning seasons for all but two of those years.
Smith started to play badminton in England at the age of 16. He has played competitively for numerous clubs and in multiple leagues in both England and the United States. Smith has worked steadily to promote badminton in the United States for more than twenty-five years. In 2002 Adrian was ranked 3rd in the United States in the 50 and over division.
He currently serves as co-director of the Mid-Atlantic Badminton Tournament and as a board member for the New Philadelphia Regional Badminton Association (NPRBA). He has qualified as USAB National Umpire, and has presided over matches involving former world champions and Gold Medal Olympians.
