Message from the Security and Safety Manager:

Follow the top link above to find the new Campus Parking Plan and Enforcement Policy for ANC. This policy has been significantly revised since it was last published in May 2002. People who park in ANC lots will be expected to be familiar with this policy, so please review the entire document at your earliest convenience. There are some important points you should be aware of:

1) The policy only covers properties owned by The Academy of the New Church. Bryn Athyn Church and General Church lots are NOT covered by this policy. Similar policies may be developed for those lots in the future.

2) Each of the lots covered by this policy has been assigned a number, for convenience in communication and enforcement. In the future, appropriate signage will be placed at each lot to indicate these numbers.

3) We are asking people to register their vehicles with the Security and Safety Department. Details of this simple process are described in the policy. To encourage registration we will be giving away a Santiago's gift card (or similar prize) to a winner selected at random from every 50 vehicles that are registered. Students and ANC employees will be required to register but will still be eligible for the prize drawings. Students will not be required to register until Fall 2004, but they are welcome to do so at any time.

4) Enforcement will be handled by the Security and Safety Department. Requests for enforcement of specific violations will be handled as promptly as possible. Bryn Athyn Police have been given permission to enforce the handicapped parking laws in the lots covered by this policy.

5) Parking Maps will be available soon.

6) The effective date of the policy is April 5, 2004. It applies to everyone, regardless of the status of their registration.

7) Future construction and other events will require modifications to the policy. This is likely in the near future in Lot #1 - Asplundh Field House North (due to tennis court and Scout building construction), Lot #5 - Dining Hall (due to modifications to Stuart Hall and Glenn Hall landscaping), and Lot #9 - Childs Hall (due to Childs Hall modifications).

8) The official policy will be maintained on the website. Updates will be published via email and other media as appropriate.

9) There are times when the demand for parking exceeds the spaces available. The policy addresses this issue through event planning and enforcement.

10) The policy is in effect 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Some regulations vary according to time of day.

This policy is necessary as a means to preserve public safety, maintain order and reduce damage to facilities. There are often times when parking can be inconvenient and frustrating, and sometimes emotions run high. Your comments and suggestions are welcome; please direct them to me, in writing if possible.

Thank you for your cooperation!
