Past Productions: Bryn Athyn College Rocks! 2005

Planning and rehearsals for BAC Rocks! 2005 began in the late summer/fall of 2004. The musical theme for this rendition of BAC Rocks was a series of mini tributes to different bands. The show was divided into two halves, with focus on Queen and the Police in the first set, followed by Chicago, Stevie Wonder and the Allman Brothers (plus a Steely Dan tune) in the second set. As usual, the band worked closely together to develop the music for the show, but special thanks go to guitarist Joe Henry who took charge of the second half of the show. This was Joe's third straight BAC ROCKS! production.

The show began with a brief performance by EMCEE Curtis Childs, supported by Brian Smith and Linus King.

After the opening act, the band kicked in and performed for over 2 hours. The opening notes of the night were played by College Dean Chuck Lindsay who started off the show with the intro riff to the classic Queen song "Seven Seas of Rhye." The first half of the show also saw the Bryn Athyn College A Capella Group perform on the Queen song "In the Lap of the Gods" and audience participation led by main vocalist Alan Cowley (this was Alan's third consecutive BAC ROCKS! production) during "Another one bites the dust," backed up by Jeremy Henry's solid bass riff.

The Queen set was followed by a string of songs by "The Police." Chad Odhner sang the first tune, "Hole in my life." Reade McCardell brought down the house with the classic "Roxanne," and main vocalist Alan Cowley backed by both lead guitars performed a jamming rendition of "Walking On The Moon." The police set was followed by a couple of Queen songs before the intermission.

The second set started off with a mini tribute to Chicago. The band was joined by Carla Odhner (keyboards), Andrew and Brett Amey (brass) and Rhett Brown & Angella Irwin (percussion). The Chicago songs gave way for a Steely Dan tune and then Will Bostock joined in for Stevie Wonder's "Master Blaster Jammin'." The second set was capped by three songs by the Allman Brothers, during which guitarist Joe Henry amazed the audience with his solo on "Jessica."
