Athyn College Service Day 2006: Set Construction
Bryn
Athyn College Service Day is an annual event that takes
place at the beginning of each school year. During Service
Day students and faculty participate in various service
projects. This year’s Service Day, on August 29, 2006,
included a project to help with the construction of the
BAC ROCKS! 2006 – Beatles tribute set that would be
used for the upcoming performances in the Mitchell Performing
Arts Center (MPAC).
The set, designed by MPAC manager Naomi Haus-Roth, was a
replica of the rooftop on 3 Savile Row in London (see photo
below) where the Beatles played their last ever live performance
on January 30, 1969. Under the supervision of Naomi and
Wayne Dansbury students and faculty began to work on different
pieces of the set. Before starting to work the film from
the Beatles performance on the rooftop was shown so that
everybody in the crew could get a feel for, and a sense
of the historical significance of the set. Below are photos
from the Service Day construction of the set.
