Community Engagement

Our campus is beautiful, spacious, and has great facilities—but don't plan on staying around campus all the time. There's lots to do in the surrounding community.

The communities surrounding the College offer a convenient extension to our campus life. We're just 20 miles north of center-city Philadelphia, in the historic borough of Bryn Athyn. Huntingdon Valley—with shopping, restaurants, a market, pharmacy, and coffee shop—is within walking distance.

Students venture beyond campus to:

  • Visit art galleries New Hope
  • Volunteer with the Bryn Athyn Fire Company
  • Explore downtown Philadelphia
  • Shop at the Bryn Athyn Thrift Shop
  • Perform with the Bryn Athyn Community Theater
  • Bird watch in the nearby Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust
  • Hike or camp in the Poconos
  • Volunteer at a shelter in Philadelphia

Transportation

Public buses run through Bryn Athyn regularly (Route 24), and the Bethayres train station provides service to surrounding towns and center-city Philadelphia (via R3 West Trenton local line). For public transportation schedules, visit www.septa.org.
