Student Health Services

Doering Health Clinic

The Doering Health Clinic is located on the lower level of the ANCSS Dining Hall—2800 Buck Road, Bryn Athyn PA 19009. All students are eligible for routine care for illness or injury through the Clinic. We work closely with a broad network of nearby hospitals and specialists to help students obtain care that is outside of the realm of the Clinic services.

Clinic Hours:

A nurse is available at the Doering Clinic Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 9 PM. Nurses are also on-call after hours and on weekends through our main phone line: 267-502-4582.

Dr. Bruce Morrison's Hours:

The college physician, Dr. Bruce Morrison, is available Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:30-8:00 AM. No appointment is needed, but calling ahead is helpful. Dr. Morrison also sees students in his office, if needed, at times that he is not present on campus.

Health Insurance

Full time students are required to have health insurance during enrollment in the college. Students from outside the immediate area are urged to contact your insurance benefits administrator to learn how your insurance covers while you are in college. The college offers a policy that can be purchased through the Doering Clinic to satisfy this requirement. Call our main phone – 267-502-4582 – for further information.

International students are automatically enrolled in the college-sponsored insurance plan, and are given support for other health care needs, including immunization catch up, etc. All students are urged to obtain as many services as possible at home to avoid incurring additional expense at school.

Counseling Services

Confidential professional counseling services are available to students, as well as counseling with the College Chaplain. Some providers will meet with students at the Doering Clinic. Others will meet with students at an off-campus location. Paid appointments are offered by:

  • Growth Opportunity Center, 215-947-8117
  • Mark Carlson, 215-355-3550

Initial consultations and three sessions are free of charge to students; further services are at the student’s expense. Counseling service information is posted in the Student Lounge and outside the office of the Dean of Students.

Doering Clinic staff offer support and referral for students who wish counseling, or who would like to discuss matters before deciding.
