The Rev. Dr. Thane Glenn has been selected to take over as chief academic officer and academic dean at Bryn Athyn College, beginning July 1.

A tenured professor who holds degrees from Washington College (B.A.), University of Pittsburgh (M.A.), Temple University (Ph.D.), and Academy of the New Church Theological School (M.Div.), Glenn brings years of academic leadership and valuable classroom and curriculum experience to this role.

Over the past 19 years at Bryn Athyn College, he has chaired and served on numerous committees related to curriculum development, strategic planning, admissions, and academic assessment, among others. Glenn has also served as the college chaplain, providing spiritual leadership to students, faculty, staff, and community members since 2011.

Allen Bedford, Ph.D., is stepping down from the CAO role in order to take a sabbatical year, in which he will observe how a variety of colleges function at the cabinet level, and study how best to facilitate healthy operations and innovations. He will be doing this work through the Executive Leadership Academy (ELA), which is sponsored in part by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC).

President Brian Blair acknowledges Dr. Bedford’s outstanding work and dedication as CAO, and is pleased to welcome the Rev. Dr. Glenn to the new role.

“We are very fortunate to have people of such caliber leading our institution,” said Blair. “When such vital positions transition from one highly respected person to another, it inspires confidence and excitement about the continued success of the college.”
