Current Course Offerings
The Institute for Swedenborg Studies is pleased to be able to offer free online courses that can be completed at your own pace. New offerings will be added here as they become available. You can enroll for a course by following the instructions below.
The Afterlife
Our first free online course, The Afterlife, provides a detailed exploration of the vision of the afterlife presented by Emanuel Swedenborg, examined in tandem with the phenomenon of near-death experiences. Swedenborg’s account is remarkably vivid and human, coalescing around themes of free will, individuality and community, and the promise that all are led to whom and what they love.
The course is divided into eight sessions which you can take at your own pace, while also interacting with others enrolled in the course if you so choose.
Instructions on how to join the course are below:
- If you already have a BrynAthynOnline account, you can skip to the next paragraph. If not, you will need to have your account set up. To do so, please fill in the registration form below. You will receive a confirmation email, generally within two weekdays, and you will need to click the link to finalize your account.
- Log in to your BrynAthynOnline account. Choose “Institute for Swedenborg Studies – Free Online Courses” and then choose “Swedenborg Studies – The Afterlife.” To enroll, click on “Self Enrolment.”
