This year, BACNC launched its new online store—a convenient and accessible place where customers can order merchandise from the comfort of their own homes. The store offers a variety of college-branded items, making it easier than ever for students, alumni, and community members to show their school spirit without needing to visit campus in person. This new platform not only modernizes the college store experience but also extends its reach beyond the physical space in the College Center. Behind this online option are dedicated student workers whose efforts keep the store organized, updated, and running smoothly, both online and in person.

Ingrid is in her third year of college and is still in the process of narrowing down her major. She enjoys working at the college store because she gets to see all the people coming in and out of the College Center. “I get to say hi or chat with them, which is a great way to brighten up my day.” In addition to working behind the scenes of the new online store, she organizes new merchandise and sets up displays, which she finds satisfying and enjoyable. “One of my favorite things I’ve gotten to do at the bookstore is fold shirts and put them on display. I find it very satisfying and fun. I also get to interact with lots of people, which is always an upside to my day.”

Xander describes his experience working at the college store as fairly relaxed. After set-up and completing inventory for the year, he says it becomes “pretty much a standard desk job.” He especially enjoys the opportunities to help with marketing events when student workers are called upon. Xander’s favorite part of the job is interacting with people around campus. “We don’t have a constant stream of customers, but there are always people walking in and out of the [1877] Café and College Center. It’s lovely to chat with community members and help give directions when needed. Because I’ve been here so long, I’m able to help just about anyone find what they’re looking for.” Xander will graduate this May with a major in mathematics and a minor in building arts.
